Band history

It all began back in late 2003 when Anders came up with the idea to begin recording songs with people on the internet, creating a kind of 'internet band'. He began searching on various forums (first off on the Blind Guardian forum) for people who wanted to join, he found a lot of interested people but none of them could stay in the band for very long due to various reasons, then in 2004 while Anders was looking for guitar players, he found Olivier, a young talented guitar player from Canada. Olivier turned out to be the man Anders was looking for to play the part as the guitar player in the band. They soon started to record some material together, which eventually led up to the music for the demo Dawn Of Man. Not being able to find a drummer, Anders began sequencing the drums using a MIDI program. The result sounded very good but there was still something missing... vocals.

Atlantis held a numerous amount of auditions, but it wasnt until August 2005 that they finally found a singer who could do the job. Stefan was found on the Iron Maiden board and was practically instantly hired. It took a couple of months more of lyric writing and vocal recording, and then the demo was finally done. Dawn Of Man was released in the beginning of December 2005 and received alot of great reviews, but also a few complaints about the production and mixing. This didn't discourage Atlantis at all as they set out to record and release a full length album during 2006 and 2007. The self-titled debut album was released in October 2007 and featured 67 minutes of quite varied metal, with alot of symphonic influences. The production was alot better than it was on Dawn Of Man and the band used a better drum sequencer. The album went up for sale on this page in the beginning of 2008 and there were quite a few orders.

In March 2008, Norwegian guitar player Andreas Ravnestad was hired to relieve Olivier of some of his duties. Andreas was also put in charge of the production of the forthcoming album set to be recorded and released in the end of this year. Atlantis will also continue to search for a drummer, and also perhaps in the future a real keyboard player.
